The Heartland Labor Capital Fellowship at Georgetown University (GU) kicked off its second summer with a two-day Orientation at GU on June 4th and 5th, 2018! The Fellowship is managed by a partnership between Heartland Capital Strategies (HCS) and GU’s Kalmanovitz Initiative for Labor and the Working Poor (KI). As you know, the mission of this project is to identify and educate a new generation of capital stewards and responsible investors, and to construct a diverse new talent pipeline. Happy to say: we’re accomplishing that.
An amazing group of seven fellows from Georgetown, UCLA, Howard, Bryn Mawr and Bates College joined us in person or in spirit for the Orientation. We are thrilled to announce that KPS Capital Partners, Teamsters, Ullico, LIUNA, AFL-CIO HIT, Segal Marco and Amalgamated Bank signed on as sponsors or hosts for the 2018 Fellowship.
As in 2018, the Summer 2018 Fellows were placed in 8-week field practicums with responsible managers and capital stewardship offices after the kick-off. The 2018 Orientation “Faculty" drew from a diverse group of visionary investment, labor and business, and academic leaders. In addition, the program will provide very special group learning and social experiences for the group as a whole, such as a series of Fellowship Bag Lunches with incredible thought leaders.
We want to congratulate the 2018 Fellows and look forward to a great summer!
