Paying it Forward! Announcing the 2021 LCS Fellowship Program with Spring AND Summer
Now in our fourth year we will, for the first time, offer students a ten-week, paid, Spring 2021 Fellowship opportunity to work virtually, part-time, while enrolled in classes. This will allow students to access some hosts and projects not available over the summer.
This will not replace our Summer 2021 Fellowship program. However, we will encourage fellows and hosts to extend their engagement to the Summer Fellowship if there’s a mutual desire.
This Spring Fellowship gives students more opportunities to earn academic credit for their work. The Fellowship serves business, finance, economics, labor, law and other students from various universities. Past Fellowship hosts and patrons include: AFL-CIO Housing Investment Trust (HIT), AFL-CIO Investment Trust, ULLICO, KPS, Hamilton Lane, Meketa, Segal Marco, GCM Grosvenor, Amalgamated Bank, Blue Wolf, Sterling Real Estate, LiUNA, Change-to-Win (CtW), and Teamsters.
The mission of the Fellowship is to:
Accelerate the next generation of responsible investors and capital stewards, and
Create a diverse talent pipeline for the financial sector and corporate governance world.
The Fellowship is jointly run by Heartland Capital Strategies (HCS) and the Kalmanovitz Initiative for Labor and the Working Poor at Georgetown University (GU-KI).
Here's the gist of it: The LCS Spring Fellowship is a 10-week paid fellowship ($3,000) with responsible and impact investment funds, unions, public institutions, or NGOs. Fellows will be paid $15 per hour for a 15 hours-per-week program.
We are inviting you to join this great effort for Spring 2021 by the December 31st deadline in the following ways:
Host a Fellow at your company/organization;
Become a Fellowship sponsor to aid in the management and student expenses;
Serve on the Fellowship Advisory Board to help us grow the program!

Since beginning this exciting initiative four years ago, we have begun educating future investment leaders. Some fellows have gone on to have successive internships at their hosts, or even permanent positions. We aim to, collectively, then provide future mentoring and career support opportunities for LCS Fellows who are interested in working for a smarter investment community, revived labor movement, and a more sustainable world.
